My Delicious Edible American Flag

Flags Unfurled
Strawberries are wonderfully sweet and juicy this season. I found a recipe on The Sisters Cafe and found it just in time for our patriotic Memorial Day week-end.
I added the toothpick to make my flag.

So delicious,
I pledged to eat them
One strawberry at a time.

An American favorite, the red and white striped soft peppermints; the kind you find in
The Old Country Store.
I'll put these mints in this jar; ahh, another red, white and blue.

Whatever plans you have for today, may they be wonderful!

Have a blessed and happy Southern Country Memorial Day.

This Little Light of Mine

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Don't let the devil, your situation, the trial nor tribulation blow it out. Let it shine everyday and everywhere because God is so good!

Last night in the prayer service, Pastor quoted a portion of the 23rd Psalm and it was so refreshing to be reminded of God's goodness.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

(Because He does this for us, we can say...)
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

(Then)
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Dear friend, we are blessed! His promises are Yea and Amen.
Happy Sunday

My Big Yard Sale Find

Memorial Day Week-end Finds

There are yard sales everywhere in the neighborhood and I determined not to stop at any one of them. Then I saw the small antique hutch and suddenly I was pulling over, walked directly to the lady calling out the prices of each item and I asked how much?
50.00

I said to her, "Remember me, I am going to the bank to get cash and I will be right back. Don't sell it to anyone else". I allowed myself to buy this one thing and that's it, but I took out a little extra just in case. When I came back there were more things put out for sale and as the day progressed they kept bringing out more as the lady stated "to get rid of". I asked if it was an estate sale and it came as a surprise to me when she said, "No, but who needs all these old things", (Huh?) She would give a price and then ask if it was too high? The prices were so low I determined once I spent my limit, not to buy anymore since I have no room in my home for anything else.
5.00 handmade carpet.

Dish rack 10.00
This is a project where I will need to sand and paint in the dark choco-black and then distress it. It will be a great bit of fun with lasting reward.

Have a wonderful start on your Memorial Day week-end; I did.

To MY Momma

Hello to everyone and Happy Mothers Day to each and every mom out there. I want to say that I truly am grateful for my mom for all she does her hard labor, the strenuous hours that were put into me and my siblings telling us not to do this or that and so many other things. Momma you are the best momma that ever lived. I thank you for all the things that you have done for me so that I may have a good home, food on the table, a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and for taking me to a church that preaches the truth(Amen!). Thank you for all your prayers for me and for always being there with the wise counsel that only a momma can give even though...sometimes its not what we want to hear but its for our good. Your sweet smile, your joyful attitude(when your not mad at me when I do something silly haha!) your spiritual walk with God, your willingness , and your determination; all of these things put together and more equal what you are "Mom". You've always been there for us and you never backed down from whats right. The bible says train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. it also says in Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed...".Mom you have become an example to many others and too me as well your godliness is what stands out the most; my hat(if I was wearing one) goes off to you. I love you and Happy Mothers Day

Your youngest son Christopher

The Hats That Mothers Wear

To all the wonderful women who wear many hats,

The first hat:
The On-The-Job, Mother-at-Work hat. Every day she has to get up see that her children are fed and taken care of. Defender of the home while on her knees in prayer. No job is too tough when it comes to her children; even if her kids are grown adults. Mom is here, (Tatatarahh)! She puts on the pink hard hat and is ready to take a stand as she follows the blueprint in the Word on raising her children in the ways of the Lord. She is building strong towers, pillars of the Faith with Jesus being the Chief Cornerstone her work is not in vain for it gives God the glory and He has promised that she and her household shall be saved.
"Don’t let the color mistake you! This hat is for serious workers only. Soft Pink Hard Hat of high density... Will hold optional accessories such as light, chin strap, pencil holder. OSHA certified. Not a toy. So ladies, there’s nothing stopping you now…look good and keep safe, while working hard." (www.gadgetgrid.com).

The second hat:
She wears this hat to face each situation in life; things look better if you're dressed for the occasion, whether it be a good or perhaps a not so pleasant occasion.

She has it all together.
She will carry herself gracefully.

Her third hat:
The Pink Cabby hat:

Whether she is driving her kids to school, music/voice lessons, work, church, Dr's appointments mom will get you there, although, sometimes she has to drive really fast for you to be on time. (Let us not talk about the stop to Starbucks). No one can drive like mom can when it comes to, "Needing to be somewhere on time" or errands to run.  This ride adventure is one of educating her children, bonding with her children, reminding her children of chores, homework, returning library books, etc. She makes them laugh, smile, listen to her funny stories, and sometimes, she makes them mad at her and the road to where they are going seems longer. Many times she enjoys giving her kids a ride because it gives her time in just listening to her children tell of their dreams, hopes and fears, and they are telling Mom because they can trust her wisdom, support and prayers. Regardless of the drive experience she always says to her children, "I love you. Have a good day", before they get out of Mom's pink taxi.

Every hat that Mother's wear are just for the role she fills in keeping it all together. But she has to switch hats to do this or that.

But, down deep inside her heart we find what her favorite hat is...

TADAHHH!!!

For her continual primary position and the one she loves most, is that of the Queen Mum. And might I add, that crown never comes off. Dear, friend, she wears that crown with pride. She is the mother of children and she loves them so.

To all the Queen Mums,
Happy Mother's Day

Rocking Chair Make-Over

I have always wanted a white wicker rocker and I found one for twenty dollars. It needed a cushion and it needs touch-ups with paint on a few spots; but it is a real find. I almost gave it away when my kids, Kristen and Christopher, asked why was I giving away their chair. (Huh?)

I found a nice pillow for the back
and then the seat cushion and fabric at Walmart. The seat cushion had a nice print but I wanted a solid. Clipped off all the labels and set to work.

Measure, clip, and tuck.

Ahh, someone is already making themselves comfortable, I see.

Thank you for visiting again. I always enjoy your company.
